A late Lane leveller against the Baggies- and a comfortable cup win for the Moles
Badshot Lea nearly get three valuable points- and Binfield make the last eight
In Pitching In Isthmian South Central bottom side Badshot Lea played host to Rayners Lane, and the Baggies came within eight minutes of picking up what would have been three priceless points, only for Lane skipper- and leading scorer- Frank Keita to decide otherwise.
The bottom place Baggies had only one win all season and found themselves twelve points from safety at kick off, but they had a perfect start, Joe Lewis making the breakthrough in the very first minute. It was a lead that they held for eighty one further minutes, until Keita popped up to score his eighteenth goal of the season with only eight minutes remaining, and ensure the second draw between the sides this season.
The Baggies are now eleven points from safety- albeit with two games in hand- whilst Lane are twelfth.
We had an all South Central Velocity Cup Fourth Round tie as Harrow Borough welcomed Binfield. Borough have hit a rather inconsistent run of form, and came into the match with only two wins from nine in all competitions- although they had been very good on their own patch. Sadly for the home faithful, that formerly good home form escaped their side in the first half, as Binfield went ahead on thirteen minutes through Daniel Lewis and then quickly doubled their advantage, Tyler D’Cruz making it two. What the Moles had, they held, and there were no further goals- so Binfield reach the Quarter Finals and defeat Borough for the second time in less than three weeks. Borough missed a penalty right at the end- which perhaps summed up their night.
The Moles, unusually, also have a Friday night fixture this week, travelling to take on Ashford Town in the League.
