A Tuesday Friendly round up
A number of our clubs picked last night to get back to football. Here’s what happened.
We’re extremely reliant on social media to bring you news during pre-season, so please read this with the knowledge that there is a margin for error! Here’s how our clubs did in their pre-season friendlies last night.
Athletic Newham played host to a Concord Rangers side preparing for life in the Pitching In Isthmian North Division, and the Beachboys hit the ground running, delivering a four-nil win.
Deal Town welcomed Whitstable Town and recorded a late victory in their first Kentish seaside derby of the summer, winning two-one. Josh Vincent got their first, on sixteen minutes, and four minutes into added time at the end of the match Rory Smith got the winner.
Fisher was the destination for Sutton Common Rovers, and Rovers headed home from South London empty handed after three second half goals for the hosts condemned them to a five-three defeat.
Gorleston took on Mulbarton and fell to a two-one defeat, whilst Lakenheath were undone by North Division new boys Newmarket Town, the Jockeys triumphing by two goals to nil. Ryan Cole was amongst the scorers.
Langley and Farnham Town met at Walton & Hersham, and Farnham, who come to us after a truly magnificent season, triumphed by two goals to one. Image courtesy of- we believe- LJP Photos.
Little Oakley welcomed Maldon & Tiptree, and we know the match went ahead because the hosts thanked the Jammers on social media for ‘an excellent workout’- but we’ve no idea what the score was. Sadly we have to say exactly the same about the match between Loxwood and Broadbridge Heath
Punjab United and Sheppey Utd played out a one-one draw, whilst Warren Mfula had a fine debut for Sevenoaks Town at Rochester United, scoring a hat trick as Oaks defeated their hosts three-two.
Selsey were the seaside hosts for Horndean, and the Deans left with some sea air in their lungs and a two-one win. Stansfeld weren’t such generous hosts for East Grinstead Town, defeating the Wasps three-nil.
Takeley were defeated one-nil by North Division Redbridge, whilst Uxbridge hit Penn & Tylers Green for four in a four-one win. Wick were three-one winners over Moneyfields, Allen scoring for the visitors.
Finally, Wingate & Finchley defeated Sporting Bengal by five goals to one.
