Blues and Hornets take top billing on Premier Tuesday

Blues and Hornets take top billing on Premier Tuesday

Our only Premier match comes from Billericay, but we also have five sides in Velocity Cup action. Here’s our preview

We have only one Pitching In Isthmian Premier match this evening, but it features two of our promotion favourites, as Billericay Town welcome Horsham to New Lodge.

The Blues are in third place, nine points behind the leaders with a game in hand, and this is that game in hand. Their form has been rather erratic of late, bringing two wins and two defeats from their last four, but they are unbeaten at home. Their visitors have also been rather formidable at home, but far less so on the road, which is one of the reasons why they sit in fourteenth, eight points behind their hosts. Another reason, as they would surely want us to point out, is that they have played two or even three matches fewer than the sides ahead of them due to their cup and trophy exploits. A win in this one could see them climb as high as seventh.

Horsham took four points from their meetings last season, winning at New Lodge in February.

We also have a collection of matches in the Velocity Cup Fourth Round.

Pitching In Isthmian North side Brightlingsea Regent saw a five match unbeaten run come to an end on Saturday, and will hope to start another as Premier side Hashtag United come to call. The Tags are in good form, with only one defeat in eight in League, Cup and Trophy- but they will also be focused on their FA Trophy Third Round match at Hampton and Richmond Borough on Saturday.

Hastings United hope to end their recent poor run of form as they welcome Cray Valley PM. United have lost four of their last five in the league, and indeed have five points from the last twenty seven available, whilst the Millers have been superb, ten games unbeaten in the league- and defeated United at Pilot Field as recently as November 16th.

Hendon welcome North Division Tilbury. The Greens have lost only once at home in the league all season, and indeed have won four of their last five at Silver Jubilee Park, drawing the other- and are looking for a fifth consecutive home clean sheet. The Dockers got back to winning ways at Cambridge City on Saturday after a recent poor run, but defeated Premier Division opposition in the last round- the Greens neighbours Wingate and Finchley, who were, coincidentally, the last side to win at Silver Jubilee Park.

Dartford travel to take on South East promotion chasers Sheppey United. The Darts are seven unbeaten in the league and were impressive in defeating Hastings at the seaside on Saturday, whilst the Ites have climbed into the top five and are looking for a fourth successive victory.
