Brentwood held as three of the top four see matches called off

Tilbury come from behind to beat Borough- again- Walthamstow win late at Waltham Abbey,  whilst Sporting Bengal and the Jockeys boost their survival hopes

The big match between our leading duo was called off, so the attention turned to the chasing pack.

Brentwood Town went ahead against Concord Rangers at the Arena, an own goal giving the Blues the lead- but the Beachboys took only three minutes more to score in the correct end, Freddie Price making it one-one at the midway point of the first half. The hosts were ahead again in the early stages of the second half, Mekhi McKenzie scoring his fourth goal since Christmas, but four minutes into added time the Beachboys were level once more, Lewis Jaggs earning a point for the visitors. Brentwood are third, Rangers thirteenth.

Waltham Abbey and Walthamstow have both been in good form, and the match was goalless on sixty three minutes when we had what appeared to be the first significant moment, a red card for the Abbotts Declan Rydings. Stow couldn’t take advantage, and six minutes from time they were also reduced in number, Kevin Songolo also taking an early shower. It seemed we had a goalless draw, but three minutes into added time the visitors were awarded a penalty, and Johnville Renee kept his cool to give them victory- and lift them to seventh.

Haringey Borough welcomed Tilbury to Coles Park, and the hosts went ahead after twelve minutes, Manny Yeboah scoring for the eighth time this season. Derek Asamoah quickly made it two-nil, but on twenty five minutes Jordan Clarke got one back- and eleven minutes later he got another to make it two-two. The turnaround was complete on the hour, Alex Hernandez’s fifteenth of the season making it three-two to the Dockers, and they held on for three points- and to defeat Borough for the third time this season. Cambridge City were looking for a fifth consecutive win as Mildenhall town came to call. City went ahead ten minutes before half time, Samrai Gebrai with the opener, but the visitors drew level midway through the second half, Ryan Swift, on from the bench only ten minutes earlier, with the goal. That was that, and it leaves City tenth, Hall seventeenth.

Maldon and Tiptree, nine unbeaten, welcomed Sporting Bengal United, eight without a win, so it looked a home banker- but the visitors went ahead in added time at the end of the first half, Keanu Hill the scorer. Seven minutes from time the visitors added a second, Brandy Makuendi leaving the home fans in need of a stiff drink, and United open up a four point gap between themselves and the bottom four. Visiting keeper Sidi Haidara also saved a spot kick.

Newmarket Town, in desperate need of points, went ahead against Redbridge midway through the first half, James Moore with the strike, and doubled their lead on the half hour, Tom Unwin with the second. With half time looming the Jockeys decided that a two-nil lead wasn’t enough, and they added a third, Oscar Dean looking to have made the points secure. The second half was without any addition to the scoreline, and the Jockeys are five points from safety. Redbridge slip to fourteenth.
