Bulls narrow the gap!

Bulls narrow the gap!

Jersey Bulls close to within one point of the leaders, Winchester and Windsor hit four, and we’ve another win for the Sarnies. It’s our Pitching In Isthmian South Central round up

Our only unbeaten Pitching In Isthmian South Central club, second place Jersey Bulls, were hoping to hold onto that record and close to within one point of leaders Bognor Regis Town as they hosted fourth place Moneyfields. Bulls were eleven unbeaten and had won four of their last five, whilst their visitors were also in good form, with six wins from their last seven and looking for a fifth victory in a row.

Moneyfields started well, but it was Bulls who went ahead on six minutes, James Sunley scoring his sixth of the season and fourth in three matches, and what they had, they held. Once ahead they could have added to the margin of victory, and the visitors ended the match with ten men, a late red card for skipper Tom Cain rounding off an unhappy night on the ‘road’ for the Moneys.

Bulls are second, and only a point behind leaders Bognor Regis Town.

Third place Winchester City were on the road to AFC Stoneham. City were looking for a third consecutive win, whilst their hosts had only one League win all season and had lost three of their last four, so City were strong favourites- particularly as they’d defeated these opponents four-one in August. The visitors were ahead just before the quarter hour, Callum Baughan with the opening goal- and they quickly doubled their advantage through George Milner-Smith, but Kyle Tooze quickly halved the arrears with his second goal in four matches. City reestablished their two goal lead by scoring a third just before half time, Lewis Brown with that one, and twelve minutes into the second half Jez Bedford added number four. Finally the scoring stopped, City still in third, five points behind the leaders.

Raynes Park Vale, starting the evening in fifth, hosted Hendon. Vale were walloped in Jersey at the weekend and looked to return to winning ways, whilst their visitors had only one win from six after starting the campaign with three victories- one of those victories a seven-mill hammering of…Raynes Park Vale. Hendon were ahead only eight minutes in, Reece Nicholas-Davies opening the scoring, but Vale levelled eleven minutes before half time through David Omilabu- and there the scoring ceased. Vale stay fifth, Hendon are ninth.

Egham Town had climbed into the play off places after winning three in a row, and the Sarnies were at home to thirteenth place Hartley Wintney, the Row having returned to winning ways on Saturday after four defeats. Town were looking to complete a double over their visitors, and they went ahead on twenty seven minutes, Connor Cullen with the opener, before the same player made it two only three minutes later. Six minutes from time Lewis Parker got one back for the visitors, but that was as much as they could manage- and the Sarnies climb to fourth.

Westfield, one point and one place outside the top seven as we kicked off, were the hosts for third bottom Littlehampton Town. Field saw a seven match unbeaten run ended by Hayes & Yeading United last Tuesday, whilst the Golds had one win from ten and had lost their previous four, the last of those six-one in Binfield on Saturday.

The hosts went ahead eight minutes before half time, George Hedley opening the scoring, but their lead lasted three minutes before Harry Heath scored his sixth League goal of the season for the visitors. That was that, Field still eighth, Littlehampton still twentieth.

Cobham, only one place and one point above the drop zone, were at home to a Windsor and Eton side who were three points better off. The visitors took only one minute to take the lead, Freddy Dunham with the goal- his sixth of the campaign, and eleven minutes later they were two goals to the good, Morgan Elliott scoring for the second match in three. Finn Harvey made it three just after the hour, and still the visitors weren’t finished, Jordi Ebanda getting number four. Windsor climb to twelfth.

In the Velocity Cup Ascot United were thumped four-one at home by Kingstonian. Sam Evans hit a hat trick for the K's, Eddie Simon got the other, and Tj Mboge got the Yellas consolation.
