Can the Seasiders narrow the gap?
Felixstowe try to close to within three points of the leaders, whilst the Abbotts, Swifts and Brentwood have their sights set on the top five
Felixstowe and Walton United, currently in second place, are six points behind leaders Bury Town with a game in hand- and tonight they play that game, as they travel to Basildon United. The Seasiders are nine matches unbeaten, and chasing a third win in a row, whilst their hosts have slid down the table after five consecutive defeats. The sides have already met twice this season, the Seasiders defeating the Bees in the FA Trophy and the League, four-two and two-one.
Sixth place Waltham Abbey will hit the top five if they can win at Cambridge City, only the second side to travel to their hosts new stadium. City were impressive during their narrow defeat against Tilbury on Saturday and will want to get back to winning ways, whilst the Abbotts are looking for a third consecutive win, and to avenge a home defeat against City in September.
Heybridge Swifts are three points away from the top five but will need a massive victory to have any chance of getting into the play off places this evening. They welcome Brentwood Town, and would probably rather have been travelling to Brentwood Town as their away form is the best in the Division, whilst their home form is generally awful, only one win at Scraley Road all season. They did defeat the Blues on the road in September.
There is only one point between the sides, and the Blues have two games in hand.
Haringey Borough welcome Redbridge. The Motormen have won only once on the road this season, and have only three wins from ten, whilst Borough would be delighted with that sort of form, as they have only one win in ten and are hoping to avoid a fourth successive defeat. The sides have met twice this season, in League and Trophy, with Borough triumphing in the knockout competition on September 7th only to fall to defeat in the League two days later.
We also have a two sides in action in the Velocity Cup Fourth Round.
Pitching In Isthmian North side Brightlingsea Regent saw a five match unbeaten run come to an end on Saturday, and will hope to start another as Premier side Hashtag United come to call. The Tags are in good form, with only one defeat in eight in League, Cup and Trophy- but they will also be focused on their FA Trophy Third Round match at Hampton and Richmond Borough on Saturday.
Hendon welcome North Division Tilbury. The Greens have lost only once at home in the league all season, and indeed have won four of their last five at Silver Jubilee Park, drawing the other- and are looking for a fifth consecutive home clean sheet. The Dockers got back to winning ways at Cambridge City on Saturday after a recent poor run, but defeated Premier Division opposition in the last round- the Greens neighbours Wingate and Finchley, who were, coincidentally, the last side to win at Silver Jubilee Park.
