Farnham squeeze home- and the Baggies hit six!

Badshot Lea suddenly go goal crazy on a day with very few goals. Moneyfields get three, Guernsey two, whilst Farnham, Villa and Binfield win with one

Leaders Farnham Town, with a seven point advantage at the top, travelled to South London to take on fourth from bottom Sutton Common Rovers. Farnham had won eight of their previous ten matches, with only one defeat, whilst their hosts have won only two of their ten and found themselves two points from safety. Town broke through on nineteen minutes, Adam Liddle with the opener, and that’s where the scoring stopped- but it was enough to send the leaders nine points clear.

Second place Kingstonian welcomed Leatherhead to Raynes Park Vale. The K’s started the day seven points behind the leaders with a game in hand, and they went ahead in this one in first half added time, Eddie Simon scoring his twenty fifth goal of the season in his twenty fifth match, but the lead was cancelled out just before the hour by Lukas Franzen-Jones, his tenth Tanners goal in seventeen games. The match had no more goals, and it sees the K’s fall nine points behind the leaders- the Tanners in twelfth, albeit with only one defeat from eight.

Ascot United had taken twenty six points from the previous thirty available, were twelve matches unbeaten, and played host to seventh place Hanworth Villa hoping to extend that run and get closer to the leaders. The Yellas developed an unexpected difficulty in first half added time, with Ben Harris sent off, and the Villains went ahead just before the hour courtesy of Sam Merson, his twelfth of the campaign. The ten men couldn’t find a way back, and that long unbeaten run finally ended, whilst Villa leapt into the top five.

Fourth place Uxbridge were visited by eighth place Raynes Park Vale. The Honeycroft faithful have had much to cheer of late, particularly at home, and they were cheering again on three minutes when Joshua Addae put the hosts ahead. They weren’t ahead for long, Dan Berry quickly levelling for Vale, and on nineteen minutes the visitors got a penalty and another Dan, Moody, made it two-one. It looked like that would be that, but a red card for the visitors James Dickson in added time gave the hosts a chance, and they took it, drawing level on ninety plus six courtesy of CJ Fearn. Uxbridge stay fourth, Vale are ninth.

Hayes and Yeading United and Rayners Lane met in a West London derby. United occupied fifth place after a run of only two defeats from ten, whilst Lane were in eleventh, very good at home, but with only one win on the road. United took only six minutes to go ahead, Ibrahim Bangura the scorer, but that was cancelled out by Elliott Buchanan’s seventh in sixteen matches, and that turned out to be that. United slip to sixth, Lane are eleventh.

Hartley Wintney welcomed manageress Harrow Borough, and with the sides goalless on thirty nine minutes the visitors found themselves with another problem, keeper Andrew McCorkell sent off. Despite that disadvantage Borough managed to hold out, and left with a point, ending the day in tenth, three points behind their hosts and five away from the top five.

Moneyfields are one of our form teams, and they travelled to Southall on the back of six successive wins and a climb into the top ten. The Moneys were in ninth place, and indeed within three points of the play off places, and they had a good start, James Franklyn putting them ahead on the quarter hour mark. It soon got better for the visitors, Tom Cain making it two just before the half hour, and eight minutes from time Franklyn added a third to seal the points, a seventh win in a row, and eighth place. The Moneys are now only two points away from the top five.

Westfield hosted the early kick off against Guernsey, hoping to end a seven match winless streak- but that wish didn’t come true, as the Green Lions took the points. Guernsey had only one defeat from six despite their lowly position, and they went ahead in this one just after halftime, Ross Allen the scorer-his eighth of the season. Manolis Gogonas quickly levelled for the hosts, but twenty minutes from time Sam Murray got a winner and delighted a fair proportion of Channel Islands inhabitants whilst making many from Woking rather miserable. Guernsey climb out of the bottom four.

South Park Reigate, two points above the bottom four at kick off, had gone five games without a win, losing the first four of those. The Sparks welcomed Horndean to Whitehall Lane, the deans having lost three in a row- but it was the visitors who made the breakthrough on twelve minutes, new arrival Sam Ashton scoring on his debut. The hosts were level twelve minutes later, Bobby Mills with the equaliser, but three minutes into the second half Ashton continued his fine debut by restoring the Deans lead. Again they couldn’t hold onto it, however, Brendan Murphy-McVie making it two-two, and a red card for Adam Payne gave the hosts even more hope. Could they take advantage? They couldn’t, and the scoring stopped there, the Sparks two places and one point above the drop zone, their visitors one place and four points better off.

It was sixteenth v seventeenth, Binfield v Met Police, four points between them at kick off. The Moles had one win from six and had lost their last two, whilst the boys in blue had also lost their last two, so both sides needed points. The Moles saw red on thirty eight minutes, Tyler D’Cruz sent off, but the ten men won anyway, a goal from Rahzir Smith-Jones nineteen minutes from time the only one of the game. Binfield are fifteenth, Met slip into the drop zone.

Bottom side Badshot Lea had looked much improved of late, and had rather a crucial test as fellow strugglers Ashford Town headed their way. The Baggies went ahead on eight minutes, Charlie George the scorer, and joy unconfined rained down as they added another just three minutes later, Finlay Evans with that one. On nineteen minutes it was three-nil, Evans once more, and twelve minutes before half time the hosts had a fourth, Baback Dehghani surely putting them out of sight- although Barsa Mirtahmasebi did quickly pull one back. It didn’t seem to have helped boost confidence for the Tangerines, as eight minutes before half time George made it five-one! On forty eight minutes Town got a second, Jayden Porter Atkinson with it, and still we weren’t finished. On seventy two minutes it was six-two, Joe Lewis for the hosts, and there was still time for Elliott Poley to add a third for the Tangerines, but then both sides decided that nine goals were enough! Badshot Lea are nine points from safety, but will now have increased hope of survival, whilst Town are six points and one place better off.
