Isthmian Supporters Predictions 24-25: Basildon United

Andrew the Bee is buzzing for the new season!

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Andrew Buxton is our Basildon United representative

  1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

I think finishing 10th in the league and getting 52 points, it was our most successful season since being back in the Isthmian North.

2. And what was the worst moment?

The worst moment was when we lost Darren Manning to Grays Athletic, we were sitting pretty well in the league then, and it pushed the club into a lot of uncertainty again.

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

Our player of the season was Samir Ali, he was our top goal scorer and top player with assists as well.

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?

I'm thinking it will be Sam Brogan. In pre-season he has come on leaps and bounds in midfield, and he now has the chance to grow even more at Basildon United after we lost some of our players at the end of the last season.

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

If we can finish in the top 10 that will be great, but I bet again we will be everyone's favourites to be down the bottom. So will take a mid table finish.

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

I think it will be the likes of Cambridge City, Mildenhall, Newmarket and Sporting Bengal. Different grounds to go to again- and a bit of ground hopping.

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

I think it will be Ipswich Wanderers, because they made us so welcome when we played them and very friendly people.

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

It's got to be the Tilbury ground where Grays Athletic were playing last season and the food was really nice.

9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?

Felixstowe & Walton United, Bury Town, Waltham Abbey, Brentwood Town, Brightlingsea Regent

The survey is now closed- and you’ll see the predicted league tables on Saturday morning, prior to the big kick off!
