Jam on Monday
Maldon and Tiptree welcome Newmarket Town in our Monday Night Football
Our focus this evening is on Pitching In Isthmian North, where Maldon and Tiptree welcome Newmarket Town- eleventh versus bottom.
The Jammers ended a nine match unbeaten run for Pitching In Northern Division One Midlands leaders Corby Town on Saturday, removing them from the FA Trophy, but have had a bit of a hit and miss campaign so far, with four wins, three defeats and a couple of draws in all competitions. Striker Matt Price has a record of as goal every two matches so far this season, and if he hits a hot streak then we’ve no doubt that Maldon can challenge at the top table. Victory tonight could take them into the top five.
The travelling Jockeys were also in Trophy action on Saturday, but they fell to defeat against North Division rivals Cambridge City. Newmarket haven’t yet picked up their first Isthmian point- but they have only played three league matches, and two of those were against expected title contenders Felixstowe and Walton United and Bury Town, so perhaps we shouldn’t read too much into their results. In knockout competitions they’ve fared rather better, defeating March Town, Wroxham, Ipswich Wanderers, Ware and Sporting Bengal United, so perhaps that should be a better measure of their progress. An away win would see the Jockeys climb to twentieth.
