Monday Night Maldon…and Seasiders
Our Monday football comes from Pitching In Isthmian North. Here’s our preview
All roads lead to Park Drive this evening, as the Jammers welcome Felixstowe and Walton United. Maldon start the day in eighth place, and will be aware that victory will take them above the Seasiders into fifth- whilst our fifth place visitors will go third with victory; indeed they’ll go third with a point, so good is their goal difference.
The Jammers have won three of their last five matches in all competitions, with only one defeat- and were ahead against Brightlingsea Regent last week when floodlight issues brought the match to an unscheduled early finish. Their opponents saw a four match winning streak come to an end at Canvey Island in the Cup at the weekend, and will hope to get back to winning ways and reinforce their promotion credentials- but despite having a positive 23-24 they only took one point in their encounters with the Jammers, that point coming at Maldon in a two-two draw in August last year, a match in which they came from two down to draw with a goal in the last minute.
The eleven meetings since the Seasiders were promoted to our level have delivered six wins for the Jammers, four for Felixstowe, and only that one draw. They’ve also met three times in Cup competitions, Maldon winning two of those.
Kick off is at 7.45 PM.
