Supporters Predictions 24-25: Moneyfields

Jeremy Todd introduces us to the world of Moneyfields

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Jeremy Todd shows us the Moneys.

  1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

Winning the Wessex League title is obviously the overall highlight, but the day I knew It was possible was an away trip to Portland. It had rained all week and I didn’t think there was a chance the game would be on, but Portland somehow managed when all other games on grass that weekend were called off. Portland away is always a difficult game, and it was wet and windy, but we were so good that day- winning all the battles and coming away with the points. On that coach ride home I knew winning the title was a possibility.

2. And what was the worst moment?

Falmouth away. As a trip with a few supporters and the team it was great fun, and we had a great weekend away, but the actual performance that day was the worst of the season. We didn’t turn up.

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

It was such a good season with a tight knit squad-  and legitimately there were 8 or 9 contenders. That said, Right Wing Back Marco De Sousa correctly won fans player of the season. He was consistent throughout and scored a worldy of a goal against our rivals Portchester.

Dylan Kramer our goalkeeper deserves a special mention, too.

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?

James Franklyn. He was another that was great last year once he was fully fit, after some awful luck with injuries. Hopefully the injury problems are behind him, and if so his creativity and the goals he scores are going to be vital.

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

It’s a tough one. A promoted team always has uncertainty. What brings confidence is that all bar 2 of last years squad have stayed. We have such a good team spirit and that will help. We also have added some quality. In the cup competitions last year we had some very good results against Step 4 teams but were outplayed at Falmouth and I think that may be how it will be again. We will have good results and some bad. I believe we should be a decent mid table team.

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Both local derbies with Horndean being on a Bank Holiday should be great games.

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

Unfortunately the only one I have been to is Horndean so has to be that one. But I am looking forward to visiting plenty of new grounds this year.

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

Last year it was Sherbourne. By far the best burger in the Wessex. Looking forward to sampling what the Isthmian has to offer.

9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?

Kingstonian, Leatherhead, Hayes and Yeading United, Westfield, Southall
