Supporters Predictions 24-25: Three Bridges

Michael reflects on a fine campaign and hopes for more of the same

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

We’re off to the best bit of Crawley, as Michael Cauldwell shows us the bright lights and new 3G pitch at Three Bridges

  1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

Almost too many to mention, but the late goals in the play off semi final away to Sittingbourne probably clinched it for me. A goal down for the bulk of the match, and scoring twice late on to take us to the final.

Also, the 8-3 win against Hythe town at home was incredible to witness. Eleven goals, and goal of the season from Ibby!

2. And what was the worst moment?

The play off final itself was obviously a disappointment, but I don’t think anyone there that night walked away from the game feeling anything but pride at the way the team had performed throughout the season. The better team won on the night, but to lose in that manner against a side we’d beaten home and away in the league was tough to take.

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

Ibby Jalloh for me. The way he ran at players was frightening to watch at times, and he scored several absolutely outstanding goals during the campaign. He also scored 24 goals throughout the season, and only failed to finish top scorer because of Noel Leighton!

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?

I’m very much looking forward to seeing Harvey Wollard develop. Voted young player of the year last season, he’s an outstanding talent. He’s tenacious and never stops battling, despite frequently being outsized by the opposition! The squad is looking very different this season, with lots of new faces coming in but Jamie Crellin has already proved his talent in bringing young players through to the first team and developing them, and it’s great to see. Also looking forward to welcoming back Reece Hallard, and seeing how he performs in the squad.

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

We will do very well to emulate the lofty heights of last season, having lost so many key players. We also face the difficult prospect of groundsharing for the first half of the season, as the new pitch goes down. Having said that, I’ve every confidence in the management and the trust placed in the youth set up, and think we will give it a really good go. We still have some fantastic talent in the team, with the likes of Kev Rivera and Bryan Villavicencio staying, so I'm always optimistic!

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Happy to see our trip to Margate isn’t mid-winter. Also, Herne Bay in late August promises sunshine by the coast (?!) Other than that, I’ll be looking forward to returning home in the new year, and seeing how we perform on a new pitch.

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

I love the Dripping Pan (Lewes), and although not in the same league, we did visit in the FA cup a while back and it was a great day out.

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

I had to consult with my son, who ate at every away game we attended and he believes it was Sheppey United.

9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?

Margate, Sittingbourne, Ramsgate, Herne Bay, Lancing

Thank you- now, who’s next? If you’d like to represent your club please send an email to Ian at [email protected] and we’ll send you the questions.
