Tanners our only winners on South Central Tuesday
K’s draw a blank at Binfield, Leatherhead win, Hayes and Badshot Lea have to settle for a point
Kingstonian had won eight matches in a row before falling to a surprise defeat against South Park Reigate on Saturday, but last night they had the chance to recover from that and cut Farnham Town’s lead at the top to just one point. The K’s travelled to Binfield, a side they defeated seven-one in September, but it seems that they’d used up their entire goal allowance in the first game as they didn’t get any on this occasion. That said, neither did the Moles, and the major drama was delivered by a collection of red cards- although we did also have a penalty save! On forty minutes Luke Wayborn was dismissed for the hosts, and within two minutes the Moles had another player sent off, but this one wasn’t even on the field- substitute Theo Pennicott-Bowen apparently heading back to a dressing room he might as well not have left. Wayborn’s dismissal led to a penalty, but Coleridge Fubler Jr in the Moles goal saved that.
In the second half K’s skipper Joe Hicks also received his marching orders, and that was that. Kingstonian stay second, three points behind the leaders, and the Moles are fifteenth.
Hayes and Yeading United welcomed bottom side Badshot Lea. The hosts got back to winning ways with a four-one win over Raynes Park Vale at the weekend and were hoping to close the gap on the top five to just a point; whilst the visitors were also looking for a second win in a row, boosted by their first win of the season on Saturday. Hayes made the breakthrough on fifty three minutes, Adrian Clifton scoring from the spot- his fifteenth goal of the season- but the Baggies were quickly level, Jaheim Kamara with the equaliser. That was that, United in seventh, the Baggies eight points from safety and finally looking a little more confident.
Leatherhead were at home to South Park Reigate, the Sparks looking to build upon their first away win of the season at the weekend by repeating the feat. The sides met in the Velocity Cup in September, Leatherhead scoring the only goal of the game, and the Tanners repeated that outcome, and the margin of victory, winning two-one.
All of the goals arrived in a four minute period midway through the second half. First, Rhys Murrell Williamson put the Tanners ahead on sixty two minutes, his first of the season, but almost immediately Andy Somo found an equaliser. Back up the other end we went, and there was Alex Pearce, the number five scoring for the second time this season- and this time, it was the winner. Leatherhead are up to thirteenth.
