The top two take the road to Sussex
Ramsgate travel to East Grinstead, Sittingbourne to Littlehampton, whilst Ashford entertain Croydon Athletic. Hill, Merstham and The Ites are in Cup action. It’s our South East preview
Unbeaten leaders Ramsgate have an eight point lead at the top of Pitching In Isthmian South East, and a perfect away record, which might perhaps give hosts East Grinstead Town reason to worry. The Wasps have won only two of eight at home, and have been remarkably inconsistent, three wins and seven defeats from their last ten- four of those defeats coming from their last five.
Second place Sittingbourne have been in superb form, and do have a game in hand, but they certainly won’t want that eight point gap to get any bigger. In all competitions the Brickies are fifteen games unbeaten, and they’ve lost only one match in the League all season- at Ramsgate in August. Their hosts are Littlehampton Town, the Golds only two points above the drop zone. Town are four without a win, but did end a three match losing run with a draw at Hythe on Saturday, so will hope to build on that.
Ashford United were in fine form, with four wins in a row, but that came to an end at Merstham on Saturday so they will want to bounce back as they welcome AFC Croydon Athletic. The Rams have followed a long unbeaten run with two defeats, and will hope to put an end to that. An away win will take the visitors above their hosts into eleventh place, whilst a home win will take the Nuts and Bolts up to ninth.
In the Velocity Cup Fourth Round Dartford travel to take on South East promotion chasers Sheppey United. The Darts are seven unbeaten in the league and were impressive in defeating Hastings at the seaside on Saturday, whilst the Ites have climbed into the top five and are looking for a fourth successive victory.
We also have an all-South East Third Round tie, as Merstham welcome Burgess Hill Town. The Hillians saw a long, long unbeaten run depart with a surprise defeat against Broadbridge Heath on Saturday, and will quickly want to bounce back from that; whilst the Moatsiders are unbeaten at home since August 24th, so should prove formidable opponents. The sides drew two-two at Moatside in October.
