Yellas up to third as Hayes climb into the top five
Ascot United go level on points with second place Kingstonian, Lane get three, and last-gasp Green Lions boost their survival hopes in a seven goal thriller
The top two found themselves up to their ankles in water, so we start our round up with third place Uxbridge taking on another of our promotion hopefuls, Harrow Borough. Uxbridge were looking for a fifth consecutive win, but they fell behind just before half time, Ridden Hassan scoring for the visitors. They weren’t behind for long, George Moore equalising nine minutes into the second half- scoring for the fifth match in a row and getting his twentieth of the season- and that was that, Uxbridge down to fourth, Borough seventh.
Ascot United took on Binfield looking to take their unbeaten run to eleven matches, and a minute before the end of the first half the Yellas went ahead, Ben Harris the scorer. The second half saw no addition to the scoreline, and the three points take united up to third, whilst the Moles are sixteenth, six points clear of the bottom four. Image courtesy of the Yellas.
Hayes and Yeading United welcomed Southall for a West London derby and an early kick off, and The All were quickly in front, Kyron Richards taking only eight minutes to break the deadlock. The hosts didn’t panic, and two minutes into the second half drew level courtesy of Jude Mason- and deep in added time, with a draw seemingly confirmed, substitute Jonathan Hippolyte made a decisive intervention in favour of the hosts, two-one the final score. United leap into the top five.
Ashford Town’s recent upsurge in form has given them real hope of climbing out of the bottom four, and they went ahead against Hanworth Villa after sixteen minutes, Jack Arnold opening the scoring- but they weren’t ahead for long, Manny Parry with a quick Villains equaliser. The Tangerines were ahead once more just after the hour mark, Basim Mirtahmasebi giving them the lead, but a minute from time Villa were level once more, Quincy Patterson making it two-two. Town are now two points from safety, the Villains four points away from the top five.
Rayners Lane welcomed high-flying Hartley Wintney. The Row had won five of their previous six, but Lane have been very good at home this season, and made the breakthrough just before the hour, Elliott Buchanan with the opening goal. The hosts doubled the lead on sixty six minutes, the goal coming from a familiar source, Frank Keita scoring his twenty first of the season. Twelve minutes from time Buchanan added a third, and that was that, Lane into the top ten whilst the Row drop to sixth.
Sutton Common Rovers had a long, weather delayed trip to Guernsey, but Rovers went ahead midway through the first half, Daniel Pepple with the opening goal. Pepple added a second five minutes before half time, only for the Green Lions to halve the arrears just before the break, Matt Loaring scoring from the spot. Six minutes into the second half it was two-two, Sam Murray getting the equaliser, and ten minutes later Murray struck again, the turnaround complete- but Rovers didn’t sit back and with eight minutes to go Pepple claimed the match ball and made it three-three. Surely that was that? It wasn’t. Five minutes into added time scoring Loaring did it again, four-three, his ninth of the season, and three crucial points for the hosts. Guernsey are four points from safety, Rovers two places and three points better off- but having played four games more.
