Gavin Hoyte and Matt Young are new at Folkestone Invicta

Folkestone Invicta's latest arrivals are Gavin Hoyte and Matt Young.

Defender Gavin came through the ranks at Arsenal, eventually graduating to the first team squad, and whilst a Gunner spent time on loan at Watford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Lincoln City and AFC Wimbledon before finally leaving North London for East London, signing for Dagenham and Redbridge. He spent two years with the Daggers (and returned to the club during 2018-19), and then played for Gillingham and Barnet, suffering serious injury whilst with the Bees.

His return to fitness came with National League Eastleigh, where he spent a season and a half before that Dagenham return. Five years ago he signed for Maidstone United, and has remained a big part of the Stones squad ever since.

Midfielder Matt Young spent last season with Haringey Borough, perhaps the brightest light in a fairly dark season for the North Londoners. Matt came through the ranks at Leyton Orient, and indeed became part of the first team at Brisbane Road, before loan spells at Wealdstone and then Coles Park in 22-23. He played fourteen times scoring four goals during that loan spell, and after his return last season managed fifteen goals in forty four appearances.
