A Jammers treble
Darren Phillips, Chris Millar and Andy George are the latest Maldon and Tiptree arrivals
Maldon and Tiptree introduced their new management team on Friday, and then added three new players, too. Darren Phillips, Chris Millar and Andy George are the new Jammers.
Darren Phillips joins the club from Saffron Walden Town. Defender Darren finished last season by winning the FA Vase at Wembley with Romford, but you'll probably remember him more from his North Division exploits. He did spent some time in Kent with Faversham and Sittingbourne, but headed there in January 2023 after leaving his previous club, Heybridge Swifts. Darren joined Swifts in October 2021, and made thirty two appearances as his side had a magnificent run in the FA Trophy and climbed to third place in the League. He also weighed in with an impressive eight goals, including two in a thrashing of his former club, Tilbury.
Darren had previously returned to Tilbury in July of 2020, and made fifteen appearances- seven during the 20-21 season (what there was of it) and eight more in 21-22 before heading to Scraley Road. He also made forty two appearances for the Dockers during a period spanning part of 2018-19 and part of 2019-20, and later went on to play for Canvey Island, making seven appearances towards the end of the 2019-20 season. In May of 2019 he was announced as a new arrival at Aveley- where he was Danny Dafter's first signing- but didn't make a start at Parkside, heading back to the Dockers before moving on to another previous club, Basildon United.
Chris Millar spent last season winning promotion with Bowers and Pitsea, indeed he scored their goal in the Play Off Final, and made twenty five appearances last season, after starting the campaign with Grays Athletic.
He has spent the previous couple of seasons with Tilbury, and indeed played forty two times during the 22-23 campaign, and prior to that was with Bowers in our Premier Division. He has also played for the likes of Heybridge Swifts, Maldon & Tiptree, Concord Rangers and Dulwich Hamlet, after playing Academy football at Charlton Athletic.
Andy George follows new Jammers boss Brett Munyard from Brightlingsea Regent. The defender has made fifteen appearances for Regent this season, scoring twice.
Andy has been with Regent since the winter of 2021, when he joined the club from White Ensign. The 21-22 season saw him play fourteen times as Regent maintained their Premier Division status, and another twenty five times during the 22-23 season as they fell to relegation. He also spent a spell last season with Grays Athletic, playing four times.
