A North and South Central Monday double

It’s rather unusual to have two matches on a Monday evening, but we have, and here they are!

In Pitching In Isthmian North Redbridge welcome Haringey Borough, only two days after the Motormen welcomed…Haringey Borough. We don’t expect that any of the Borough fans pitched a tent and waited it out, but if they did, it would have been a Bell tent. 

Of course Saturday’s fixture was in the FA Trophy, and it was a close encounter until added time at the end of the match when Borough decided they didn’t want a penalty shootout and scored two goals to win three-one. Borough haven’t taken a single league point so far but have been unbeatable in the Cups, so they will hope to finally take their knockout form into the North Division, whilst the Motormen have two League wins and two League defeats so far, those victories coming in their last two matches against Newmarket Town and Grays Athletic.

Off to Pitching In Isthmian South Central, where Binfield take on Uxbridge. The Moles haven’t played a league match since August Bank Holiday Monday, have yet to pick up a point, and come into this match having lost three-nil at Horndean in the Trophy on Saturday. Uxbridge finally found their feet on Saturday, and come into the match on the back of a six-nil hammering of Phoenix Sports in the Trophy- but they are also devoid of league points, three games having left them with three defeats. It’s too early in the season to call a match critical, but both sides will be rather desperate to find their South Central feet. The teams have met six times, with four of them ending all-square, including both of last season’s encounters.
