A North Sunday/Monday
Our Pitching In Isthmian North weekend extended into Sunday and Monday, and it brought victories for Witham and Tilbury
Witham Town have had a superb start to the season, and they remain the only side not to have experienced defeat. Their latest victory, which saw them come from behind at Cambridge City on Sunday, took them up to third- three points behind leading pair Basildon United and Bury Town, but with two games in hand.
City went ahead four minutes before half time, Junior Mubiayi making the breakthrough, and it very much appeared that they would hold on for three points until Frederick King drew the visitors level ten minutes from time. It seemed as if that was that, as we moved deep into added time with the scores unchanged- but in the ninety sixth minute Josh Osude did what he does best. This was his seventh match of the season and he has now scored in six of them, the latest his seventh of the campaign and, rather unsurprisingly, the winner.
Last night Tilbury made it two wins from two with victory over Redbridge. Victory for the Motormen would have seen them go third, but they were undone by Sam Bantick. Sam has offered goals in abundance for most of his career, and his opener just before the half hour was his eighth of the season- and he made it nine from ten matches with a winner nineteen minutes from time, nine minutes after the hosts had levelled from the spot, Abs Thompson giving them hope. The Dockers are up to ninth, a point behind their hosts having played two games fewer.
