A Replay Round Up

A Replay Round Up

Success for Wanderers, Redbridge and Wroxham- but sadly a mixed outcome in our cup replays

We had FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round Replays on both Monday and Tuesday, and Monday saw Redbridge reach the next round as a Wyan Reid goal on seventeen minutes saw them finally see off the challenge of Great Wakering Rovers. The Motormen will host Barking in the next round- a proper local derby.

Tuesday, however, was a night of rather mixed outcomes.

Hythe Town let a two goal lead slip against Abbey Rangers on Saturday, and last night had to claw back a two goal deficit- Jack Steventon and Lex Allen the scorers- only to see a goal two minutes from time dump them out.

Ipswich Wanderers and Thetford Town couldn't manage a goal between them at the weekend, and they only managed one last night, but it went to Wanderers. Dylan Kirk got it, after only four minutes. Wanderers head to Downham Town a week on Saturday.

Maldon & Tiptree also had a goalless draw at the weekend, at Stanway Rovers, and the Jammers were the victims of a giantkilling in the replay. Lewis Watson’s goal on fifty three minutes drew them level, but a Rovers penalty fifteen minutes from time dumped them out, the visitors triumphing two-one.

Phoenix Sports welcomed Epsom & Ewell with both sides looking for the first goal of the tie, and Marcus Travers got that for Sports. Sadly for the hosts, three goals- indeed a hat trick- in eight minutes for the visitors sealed the tie in the closing stages.

Wroxham travelled to Walsham-Le-Willows hoping to do better than their one-one draw at the weekend, and the Yachtsmen sailed home with a comfortable victory, Ryan Hawkins scoring on four and sixty eight minutes to see them through.  Newmarket Town travel to the Norfolk Broads in the next round.
