A Wandering Quartet
Warren Burwood, George Forrest, Kai Fletcher and Chris Casement are new at Ipswich Wanderers
Ipswich Wanderers have been busy recruiting for the forthcoming season, with the arrivals of Warren Burwood, George Forrest, Kai Fletcher and Chris Casement.
Goalkeeper Warren was with Lowestoft Town last season, although he played only twice. He also spent some time on loan at Wroxham, where he played four times.
Warren made nineteen appearances as the Trawler Boys reached the Play Off Semi-Final last season. He joined Lowestoft in October 2020, when he moved back to the area after his departure from Cardiff City, where he had played youth, Under 18 and Under 23 football after joining the Bluebirds in 2016. He also spent time at Norwich City prior to his move to Wales.
He has also appeared for Norwich United and Hereford, the latter on a loan from Cardiff City.
Defender George Forrest has played for both Hornchurch and Brightlingsea Regent in our top flight, and for Romford when they were in the North Division. He spent time in Ireland with Waterford, and has also played for Crawley Town, Braintree Town and Leiston. He spent time with Maldon & Tiptree during 18-18 and 22-23, making twelve appearances during the latter, and added another Jammers appearance in the closing stages of last season. He spent most of 23-24 with Hullbridge Sports and Barking.
Kai Fletcher spent some time with the club last season, but ended the season at Brightlingsea Regent, where he scored four goals in eleven matches. Forward Kai moved to Regent from Brantham Athletic, where he had a rather prolific period, scoring sixteen goals in twelve matches.
Kai played Under 18 and reserve football for Leiston before graduating to the first team squad, and he also spent some time at Needham Market. The 22-23 season saw him spend some time at Gorleston, making eleven appearances, and he started last season with Wanderers, playing thirteen times and scoring twice before heading to Brantham and finding his shooting boots.
Finally, Chris Casement makes the move to the Doucy. Chris was fairly recently the manager at Stowmarket Town, spending a few months in charge at the end of 22-23 after three years as a player with the club. He spent last season with Leiston.
Defender Chris came through the ranks and into the first team at Ipswich Town in the early stages of his career, and went on to play for the likes of Hamilton Academical and Wycombe Wanderers on loan whilst a Tractor Boy. He moved back to his native Northern Ireland in 2010 and became something of a legend with Portadown and Linfield, sharing more than four hundred appearances between the two. He returned to England in 2020 and became a big part of Stowmarket's initial Isthmian success.
