An Athletic battle!

An Athletic battle!

Carshalton Athletic take on Croydon Athletic in the Velocity Cup this evening. Here’s our preview

Pitching In Isthmian Premier side Carshalton Athletic must be flying high after their victory over previously undefeated Billericay Town on Saturday- a match that saw the Robins come back from three-one down at half time to win four three, the winning goal arriving five minutes into added time. Athletic will put their fine home form to the test once more against another side who should be full of confidence, South East newcomers Croydon Athletic arriving in the Third Round of the Velocity Cup.

The travelling Rams bring with them an eleven match unbeaten run in League and Cups, their last defeat coming on September 21st when they were narrowly knocked out of the FA Trophy by Uxbridge. Their not-so-secret weapon is skipper Brandon Pierrick, who already has seventeen goals for the season, and indeed has found the net in nine of his last eleven matches.

Carshalton have striker David Smith in fine form, having scored in each of his three matches since his Robins arrival. They are also rather formidable on their own patch, nine unbeaten in all competitions at Colston Avenue- their last, and indeed only, home defeat coming on August 24th.

The winners will host Leatherhead or Westfield in the Fourth Round.
