Brentwood boss Rowland departs
Keith Rowland leaves Pitching In Isthmian Premier side Brentwood Town
Brentwood Town have announced the departure of boss Keith Rowland- and Assistant Steve Butterworth- following last night's defeat against Stanway Rovers, a defeat which left the Blues at the bottom of the table.
Rowland steered the club to the Pitching In Isthmian North title in 24-25, and last season took them to the Pitching In Isthmian Premier Play Off Final, only extra-time defeat standing between them and Step Two. This season, however, has brought six defeats from seven matches.
Chair Jez Dickinson paid tribute to Rowland's achievements, but explained:
'As Club and Chairman we now need to press the reset button and recruit a new successor. We will act swiftly as its important to Fans, players, and the Club not to feel sorry for ourselves but to get cracking by getting back to winning ways asap. Its ben an extremely tough start but we have played just 7 league games and have 35 left plus we are still in all cup competitions.
Football and indeed life throws you curve balls but it’s how you deal with them that truly defines you. The vision, journey, and success of Brentwood Town FC stays the same. My ambition, drive and focus will continue and in effect I will become even more determined. I obviously will need to find a new Manager and Assistant who shares this ambition and vision.'
Keith was previously in charge of Aveley, Wingate & Finchley and Tilbury. Best known for his successful playing career at West Ham United, Bournemouth and Queens Park Rangers, he first managed in our league at Wingate & Finchley, and indeed was the most successful manager in the clubs history at the time, taking his side to the Premier Division playoffs in 2017. He became the boss at Aveley in the summer of 2019, but he left the Millers in November 2021 before spending time at Tilbury. He joined Brentwood in October 2023.
