Brentwood come out on top in a Blues v Blues battle
Ipswich Wanderers welcomed Brentwood Town, and the visitors made it five wins in a row- and five away wins in a row, too!
Our one Pitching In Isthmian North match last night came from Suffolk, as Ipswich Wanderers hosted Brentwood Town. Wanderers are bottom of the table, and came into this one with an unenviable record of fourteen league matches without a win despite some improved performances- and, again, a decent performance didn’t get them any points.
The travelling Blues had played their four previous league matches on the road and won them all, so can’t have been at all worried about their trip to the Doucy, particularly as they defeated their hosts eight-nil last month- and after a goalless first half quickly asserted their dominance. Goal machine Daniel Ogunleye scored his twenty first of the season to give his side the lead just after half time, and on sixty eight minutes substitute Lyle Della-Verde got his first goal for the club to make it two-nil. There was no way back for the hosts, who are eight points from safety, whilst Brentwood are fourth, nine points behind the leaders, five ahead of sixth place Tilbury.
That’s a double double over Wanderers completed for Town, as they defeated them twice last season, too.
