Brothers of the Wanderers
Michael Brothers is the new manager at Ipswich Wanderers
Ipswich Wanderers have ended their search for a replacement for Glen Driver by appointing Michael Brothers, who makes the move to Suffolk from Braintree Town, where he was first team coach.
In a statement, Wanderers co-Chair Stephen Boyle explained:
‘The board are thrilled to get the pursuit of Michael over the line. Over the last three weeks we’ve spoken to a dozen or more candidates, but Bruvs ticked all the boxes in terms of what we are looking for. We see him very much as a long term appointment, as we look to reset the culture within the club. For a side in our situation to convince such a top coach, currently imbedded in a National League setup, to join us is an incredible coup for our club, and testament to our ambition and vision.'
As a player, Michael turned out for a number of clubs at our level, amongst them Sudbury, Leiston, Hornchurch, Needham Market, Maldon and Tiptree and Brightlingsea Regent. He was also manager of Brantham Athletic before his move to the Iron.
He'll make his debut as Wanderers boss this evening, as they take on FA Trophy heroes Brentwood Town- and he has a big task on his hands, as his new charges are ten league matches without a win and have conceded fifteen goals in their last three.
