Chesterfield the destination for the Hornets

Horsham's latest FA Cup First Round opponents revealed

Once again Horsham have reached the First Round of the FA Cup, and last night's draw sends them north once more, to Derbyshire, where they will face League Two side Chesterfield.

This is the third time in four seasons the Hornets have reached this stage of the competition- our image above was taken in Barnsley last season, an incredible three-three draw- and on each occasion a long trip in a northerly direction has awaited the team and its supporters. This one is slightly shorter than last year, although only by twenty seven miles, but considerably shorter than their trip in 21-22- Carlisle, which is almost in Scotland!

The Spireites- so called because the town is famous for the church of St Mary and All Saints, which has a crooked spire- currently sit in twelfth place in League Two, and are unbeaten at home; although they've only won once on their own patch. Six league matches have brought five draws, but they won't be able to draw against the Hornets, as FA changes have done away with replays from this stage of the competition, so we will get a result- even if it comes from a shootout. The last three seasons have seen the hosts reach the Third Round of the competition, departing against Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion and Watford.

The match will be played between the 1st and 4th of November, and we await an exact date- which will come once the tv companies have made their picks for live coverage.
