Deans boss departs

Shaun Hale steps down at Horndean

Horndean have announced the departure of manager Shaun Hale, following confirmation of their relegation from Pitching In Isthmian South Central.

Shaun took over at the Deans in December 2024, replacing Michael Birmingham, who had departed to take charge of (then) Pitching In Isthmian Premier side Bognor Regis Town. Last season they finished one point above the drop zone, but sadly the battle for survival this season has been lost. He departs with his side fifteen points from safety, and with only one win from their last ten matches.

As a player, Shaun turned out for Salisbury City, Fleet Town, Havant & Waterlooville and Bashley, as well as playing for the Army and Combined Services side. He went on to manage AFC Portchester before moving on to have considerable success in the Wessex League with Bemerton Heath Harlequins, where his side earned promotion to Pitching In Southern Division One South. He has also spent time in charge of Downton.
