Dockers go second with victory in top five clash

It was good night to be at home, as Tilbury, Brentwood Town and Haringey Borough emerge victorious

We had three fixtures in Pitching In Isthmian North last night, and each of them ended with a collection of delighted home fans.

Tilbury took their unbeaten run to six matches- five wins- with victory over Witham Town, and Alex Hernandez once again led the way, scoring for the fourth match in a row- and his sixth goal in six. The Dockers had to come from behind after Witham took the lead from the spot seven minutes before the break- Josh Osude’s seventh goal of the campaign- but Hernandez drew them level on the hour, and seven minutes from time Sam Bantick (pictured, In Focus Photos) stepped up to do what he has done so often this season, score a winner. That strike takes him to double figures for the campaign.

Brentwood Town are up to tenth, three points away from the top five with two games in hand, after victory over Cambridge City- but goodness they left it later than late, somehow snatching three points from a match which looked like ending in defeat. City went ahead on the hour, Kieran Bishop with the opening goal, and were still ahead with only a minute remaining, only for Daniel Ogunleye to level with his ninth goal of the season. Substitute Jesse Olukolu then took control, putting the Blues ahead one minute into added time and then adding another four minutes later, sealing what had looked like a rather unlikely victory.

Haringey Borough picked up their first League win of the season at the weekend, and they must have enjoyed it as they did it again. It looked as if their match against Sporting Bengal United at Coles Park was ebbing towards a goalless draw, but Georgios Aresti had other ideas. On eighty three minutes he put his side ahead, and then four minutes later he sealed the points, two-nil the final score. That result lifts Borough to twentieth- above their visitors.

Velocity Cup Third Round

Billericay Town hosted Basildon United in an Essex derby. The first half was close, only a De-Carrey Sheriff goal for the Blues separating the sides at half time, but after the break the hosts took control. Sheriff added a second from the spot on fifty six minutes, and although Darren Esuka quickly got one back for the visitors Frankie Merrifield and Tyrell Miller-Rodney then emerged from the bench to round things off with a goal each, four-one the final score.
