Four Bees

Nidal Berri, Nnaemeka Anyanwu, Lorenzo Saponara and Troy Osei-Bobie are the latest arrivals at Basildon United

Basildon United yesterday announced four new signings.

Nidal Berri, a winger, played for Grays Athletic's first team briefly last season, making an appearance from the bench in a Velocity Cup defeat against Brightlingsea Regent. However he was mainly turning out for Athletic's reserve side- indeed he made twenty seven appearances and scored fifteen goals, so you can see why the Bees have snapped him up.

Nnaemeka Anyanwu, also a winger, was with Hashtag United last season, and indeed also made one appearance, in an Essex Senior Cup hammering of Hornchurch. He played twenty six times for the Tags reserve side, and scored nine goals.

Defender Lorenzo Saponara spent time at Grays Athletic last season, making four appearances after joining the club in September and later moving to be part of the Under 18 setup at Southend United.  He was previously part of the youth setup at Leyton Orient. He spent time on loan at FC Romania in Pitching In Southern Division One during the closing stages of the 22-23 season.

Midfielder Troy Osei-Bobie made eight appearances for Grays Athletic during the 22-23 season, and followed that with sixteen- and two goals- last season. He also scored five goals in four matches for the West Ham United Foundation Under 19 side. He has also spent time with Tilbury.
