Four for the Gulls

Four for the Gulls

Nick Dembele, Harry Hope, Harvey Livings-Corbin and Markus Marku are new at Canvey Island

Prior to Saturday's narrow opening day loss at Chichester City, Canvey Island announced four new arrivals.

Forward Nick Dembele spent last season with Dover Athletic in National League South, but prior to heading to the seaside was winning promotion from our top flight with Aveley, playing saix times- indeed his last Millers appearance was in the 22-23 Play Off Semi-Final against…Canvey Island.

Nick joined the Milers from Potters Bar Town. He had been a Scholar for only a few months, and scored six goals in his fourteen appearances.

He started the 22-23 campaign at Bognor Regis Town, making sixteen appearances and scoring four goals. He joined the Rocks in the summer from Gosport Borough, but you may also have seen him play for Lewes, Cambridge City, Met Police, Walthamstow or Waltham Forest. He also played in Gibraltar for a while, but it's less likely you saw him there!

Midfielder Harry Hope joins the club after being a big part of Sittingbourne's success last season, playing twenty seven times and scoring four goals as the Brickies reached the Play Off Semi-Final. That was his second spell with the Brickies- he started last season at Tilbury- and he has also played at a higher level for Braintree Town, and also turned out for East Thurrock United, Cardiff City Met and Larkhall Athletic.

You might remember winger Marcus Marku from his spells with Whitehawk, Harlow Town and Sutton Common Rovers. He came up through the reserves and into the first team at Harlow Town whilst they were still in our ranks, and then he moved to that other set of Hawks on the South coast, making nine appearances with one goal during 22-23, before switching to Rovers where he played thirteen times. He spent last season in the Essex Senior League with Buckhurst Hill.

Finally, defender Harvey Livings-Corbin was a youth player at Woking before moving on to play Pitching In Southern League football for two clubs who are these days firmly Isthmian, namely Waltham Abbey and Walthamstow. He has also played for Cannons Wood in the Thurlow Nunn League, and indeed made forty three appearances last season.
