Charlie Harris quickly returns to Sussex

East Grinstead Town have announced the signing of former Whitehawk midfielder Charlie Harris, who was announced as a new arrival at Chatham Town around a month ago but has obviously decided that he prefers to be nearer home!

Charlie signed on at Horsham in the summer of 2023, and made ten appearances, scoring two goals, before returning from whence he came- heading back to Whitehawk. He signed for the Hawks in the summer of 22 and had a fine 22-23 in red. He made forty four appearances, and scored the goal which saw the Hawks promoted- the only goal of the Pitching In Isthmian South East Play Off Final in May 23. After his return to the club in November he made thirty one appearances in our top flight and scored four goals. He was previously with Horsham for four years, joining the Hornets permanently in Summer 2018. He came through the ranks at Brighton and Hove Albion, eventually earning a professional contract at Barnsley, but that move didn't work out and he headed back to Sussex, playing for East Grinstead Town for the first time and Eastbourne Borough before becoming a Hornet.
