Highlights: A Cambridge City double
Highlights of City's victories over Kings Langley and Waltham Abbey
Cambridge City hosted Kings Langley of Pitching In Southern Division One Central. The visitors had lost their last two in League and Cup after an unbeaten start to the season, whilst City are still playing in St Ives whilst awaiting the completion of their new home, and have perhaps unsurprisingly had a mixed start to the season. They gave a debut to new signing Samrai Gebrai, who you might remember from his time with Potters Bar Town, and after a goalless first half City took the lead ten minutes after the restart, Jack Thompson with his first of the season. That turned out to be the only goal of the game, City through to the Second Qualifying Round.
Two hundred and two were in attendance.
Cambridge City travelled to Waltham Abbey and left with three points, although it looked for most of the match that they’d have to be content with one. City opened the scoring on seven minutes, Jack Thompson scoring for the second time in two matches and two days, but the Abbotts quickly levelled, Declan Rydings also scoring for the second match in a row. The winner arrived a minute from time, Aaron Greene defying the home defence to earn victory.
