Highlights: A Sheppey win double

The Ites defeat Sevenoaks and Hythe over the August Bank Holiday weekend

Sheppey United and Sevenoaks Town both delivered opening day victories, and the two sides hoped to add three more points as they met on the Island. The Ites made the breakthrough midway through the first half, Jacob Lambert with the opener, and Mamadou Diallo made it two six minutes before half time. Oaks hopes looked to have departed when Jahmal Howlett-Mundle saw red ten minutes after the break, and they were entirely extinguished when the Ites added a third two minutes from time, Hanson Itauma making sure of three home points. Warren Mfula did pull a goal back against his former club in added time to make it three-one, but that was as good as it got, Sheppey into fourth place.

Four matches- three of them away from home- have brought four wins for Sheppey United, and their latest victory came at Hythe Town, where the Ites hit four to go top of the table on Bank Holiday Monday. They went ahead on twenty one minutes, Gil Carvalho the scorer, and ten minutes before the break Daniel Carr doubled their advantage. Carr ended the Cannons resistance with a third fifteen minutes from time, and still they weren’t finished, adding the fourth with a minute remaining through Eitel Moumi Goueth.
