AFC Croydon Athletic will have considered themselves most unlucky to have lost their opening league match last weekend, given that Ramsgate’s winning goal arrived six minutes into added time, but the South London Rams were quickly ahead in the Cup. They welcomed a former Pitching In Isthmian club, VCD Athletic, who have had a fine start to the season, three wins from three matches leaving them top of the SCEFL, but they had no answer to Brandon Pierrick’s eighth minute opener, and the same player made it two just before half time. There was still time for Gus Sow to add a third before the break, and the match was certainly over when Mekhi Savage added a fourth just before the end. A late red card for Junior Savane was the only fly in the Rams ointment.
