Southend are a step too far for our Blues- but they are made to fight for their victory
Brentwood Town, who had just picked up our Performance of the Month award for their win at Hereford in the last round, had even bigger fish- well, shrimp- to fry as Southend United made the trip to the Arena. The Blues started superbly, Daniel Ogunleye opening the scoring on eleven minutes, but United quickly drew level, and we reached the halfway mark at one-one. The visitors then took control, making it four-one by the time we reached the sixty sixth minute, but the Blues weren’t done and Ogunleye got a goal back with fifteen minutes remaining. In added time the visitors added a fifth, but there was still time for Harry Elsey to score again for Town, three-five the final score.
