Green Lions boost their survival hopes as scoring Loaring breaks Rovers hearts

Sutton Common Rovers had a long, weather delayed trip to Guernsey, but Rovers went ahead midway through the first half, Daniel Pepple with the opening goal. Pepple added a second five minutes before half time, only for the Green Lions to halve the arrears just before the break, Matt Loaring scoring from the spot. Six minutes into the second half it was two-two, Sam Murray getting the equaliser, and ten minutes later Murray struck again, the turnaround complete- but Rovers didn’t sit back and with eight minutes to go Pepple claimed the match ball and made it three-three. Surely that was that? It wasn’t. Five minutes into added time scoring Loaring did it again, four-three, his ninth of the season, and three crucial points for the hosts. Guernsey are four points from safety, Rovers two places and three points better off- but having played four games more.
