A Sussex derby to start the season as Hastings United welcomed Horsham- a replay of the last competitive match of last season for both sides, a Sussex Senior Cup win for the Hornets. United went ahead just before the half hour, last season’s top scorer Davide Rodari opening his account from the spot, and they sealed victory when Finley Chapman added a second ten minutes from time. The Hornets had earlier had a chance to level from the spot, but hit the bar.
