Highlights: Hendon 1 Wingate and Finchley 6
The Blues deliver a masterclass in a local derby
Our big Pitching In Isthmian Premier match of Tuesday evening came from Silver Jubilee Park, where Hendon, in ninth, hosted Wingate and Finchley, a point ahead in sixth. The Greens defended a one hundred percent home record, but they fell behind on seventeen minutes, Ayo Tanimowo heading home his third goal in five matches. Five minutes later and the hosts were in severe danger of seeing that record depart, as Ben Frempah made it two, and it looked as good as gone when the visitors added a third nine minutes before half time, Jaiden Drakes-Thomas leaving the travelling fans overjoyed. Surely it couldn’t get worse for the hosts? Ogo Obi ensured that it could, his eleventh of the season coming only four minutes later, and five minutes into the second half Obi was at it again, five-nil. On fifty five minutes Obi secured the match ball, making it six-nil, and then a moment of- well, perhaps not so much joy as light relief for the hosts as Sam Adenola got a goal back. That was where the scoring ended, and the visitors climbed up to fourth with a fourth consecutive win, whilst the hosts began an inquest, as the evening had most definitely resembled a massacre.
