Lewes were the hosts for Chatham Town, the visitors looking to go one better than last season and win automatic promotion. The Chats were our supporters favourites for the title in the poll which we announced this morning, but it was the Rooks, much changed from last season, who broke the deadlock, Matt Warren taking only fourteen minutes to find the net. The match remained poised until four minutes from time, Danny Bassett proving Lewes’ greatest asset when making it two-nil and sealing victory-although the visitors could have been level by then, Toby Bull saving a Jamie Yila spot kick.
Seven hundred and seventy six watched on, and most of them enjoyed their day.
