Merstham welcomed Eastbourne Town to Moatside, the Moatsiders having had a perfect start to the season, three matches- two in the cup- with three wins, ten goals scored, two clean sheets and only one conceded. That perhaps made them favourites, but Town seemingly hadn’t read the odds, and went ahead on fourteen minutes through James Ding before adding another nine minutes later, Leon Greig making it two. Lee Lewis quickly got a goal back for the Moatsiders, but the two goal cushion was soon reestablished for the visitors, Ding adding another just before the break. The second half saw no further goals, and Town climbed to eighth- above their hosts on goal difference.
