Walthamstow hoped to bounce back from opening day defeat by beating Saffron Waldren Town in East London. Their Essex Senior League visitors were four unbeaten in all competitions, but Stow breached their rearguard on fifteen minutes, Brian Moses with the opener, and doubled their lead twelve minutes later, Kymani Thomas with the second. The visitors got a goal back just after the start of the second half, but it looked all over when Moses added a third with twelve minutes to go, only for Town to make the closing stages interesting by pulling it back to three-two. That was, however, how it ended.
