Isthmian League round-up | Halloween goal-fest as Enfield hit six to stay out ahead
The goals were flowing on Saturday in the Isthmian Premier, with 55 scored across the day's 11 matches.
League leaders Enfield Town maintained their spot at the top of the table after hitting six without reply at Burgess Hill Town.
Saturday pitted the Towners against a Hillians side yet to lose a league game at home this season, but they made light work of their opposition.
First-half goals from Tom Avgoustidis and Amrit Bansal-Mcnulty put them in control, with Avgoustidis scoring two more shortly after the break to complete his hat-trick.
There were further goals from Olly Davis and Daniel Efobi to complete the rout, earning Enfield their 11th league win in 14 games.
Nearest rivals Welling United maintained their flawless record at home, defeating Carshalton Athletic 4-0.
Four different players were on the scoresheet for the Wings as they earned their ninth straight league win this season at the Anthony Martin Community Stadium, with six clean sheets included in that run.
Another side earning a home win and clean sheet were third-placed Eastbourne Borough, who defeated Ramsgate 2-0.
Shay Harrison was Saturday's match-winner for the hosts, firing home to break the deadlock with 88 minutes gone before lobbing the goalkeeper to double his tally in second-half stoppage time.
As a result, Steve King's men climbed up to third in the table above Lewes, who could only pick up a point at home to Wingate & Finchley.
Trailing 2-1 at half-time, the Rooks scored early in the second half through Jack Enkh to earn a share of the spoils at The Dripping Pan.
Elsewhere in the top seven, Dartford fell to a thrilling 4-3 defeat at Aveley.
With the score at 1-1, quickfire goals at the start of the second half from Malachi Napa and Francis Mampolo put the Millers in control.
Max Fiddes' second of the afternoon game Dartford hope, but Alejandro Machado curled home a beauty two minutes later to make it 4-2.
The Darts netted a third less than 10 minutes from the end to set up a grandstand finish, but it would be the home side that held on to win.
St Albans City's red-hot form continued, with Inih Effiong's second-half hat-trick helped them to a 3-1 win at Whitehawk.
3-1 was also the scoreline at The Stadium, where Cheshunt consigned Chatham Town to back-to-back defeats.
All four goals came in the second half, with three in a 13-minute spell giving the home side a comfortable lead before Jack Lyons netted a late consolation for the Chats.
Defeat means Chatham missed the chance to climb back into the top seven.
In the day's other action, AFC Whyteleafe were 4-2 winners at home to Dulwich Hamlet, while Leatherhead hit seven at home to Stanway Rovers in a 7-2 win.
Deondre Date grabbed a hat-trick for the Tanners, helping them end a run of four league games without a win in emphatic style.
In other important fixtures towards the bottom, Cray Wanderers were 4-1 winners at Brentwood Town.
The Wands started the day in the relegation zone, albeit having played significantly fewer games than the sides around them due to their deep run in the FA Cup.
However, they escaped the bottom four at Brentwood's expense, with two goals in either half getting the job done.
Maldon & Tiptree ensured it wouldn't be they who fell into the drop zone, after a 3-1 victory at home to Three Bridges.
A scintillating first-half display saw the Jammers take a three-goal lead into the break.
And although Charlie Bennett pulled one back for the visitors, they couldn't mount a comeback and ended the game with nine men after Dan Ferreira saw red for a rash challenge and Noel Leighton was issued his marching orders late on for a second bookable offence.
