Isthmian Supporters Predictions 24-25: Badshot Lea
Baggie Nick gives this briefing
We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.
Nick Hester is our Badshot Lea representative
- Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?
Well personally it was being blocked by Raynes Park Vale on twitter but on the field it was finishing mid table after everyone had predicted our 'little village team' to be instantly relegated.
2. And what was the worst moment?
Having to play so many games at neutral venues all in the space of three weeks because of the weather which cost us a lot of money and points. Also knowing the fact that as we excelled last season, a lot of our players would be snapped up by higher and bigger clubs.
3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?
George Hedley was head and shoulders our best player but has now moved across to Leatherhead, out of those players left? Probably Lamin Ceesay, a goal scorer but also a lovely fella off the pitch.
4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?
We have such a young squad and only five of last year’s side are with us so its hard to say, but if Kai Allsopp (signed now permanently from Slough Town) can keep injury free then he will be a force. We also have a 17-year-old from the Academy called George Winkworth and he will be a player too.
5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?
We did amazingly well last campaign, but looking at the clubs in our division this time around its going to be a totally different level. As we said last year, our first target will be to finish one above the drop and then let’s see, but if I’m honest? I think with possibly the lowest budget in the division we will do well to do just that.
6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?
Farnham away obviously as with their obscene budget we have a free hit and of course it’s our local derby. I’m also looking forward to Leatherhead as they always have a great atmosphere and a lovely ground, and also Hartley Wintney, lovely people behind the scenes and a good mate of mine is the manager.
7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?
Met Police – I’m a traditionalist and they’ve got four proper floodlights!
8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?
It’s a football ground not a restaurant so I want the simple burger or decent pie, not curry or anything fancy – to be fair, I haven’t had any better than ours down at Badshot Lea.
9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?
Leatherhead, Kingstonian, Harrow Borough, Southall, Hayes and Yeading
The survey is now closed- and you’ll see the predicted league tables on Saturday morning, prior to the big kick off, with the favourite ground/favourite food results announced on Monday!
