Isthmian Supporters Predictions 24-25: Beckenham Town

Dan is rather fond of Becks

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Dan Hicks has been reprieved as our guide to Beckenham Town!

  1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

Am I allowed to say 17 May 2024 when we learned of our reprieve? It was a tumultuous season and highlights on the pitch were few and far between. But we never gave up, and our run of 3 wins out of our last 5 (including a 4-2 home win against otherwise in-form Sheppey) effectively kept us up.

2. And what was the worst moment?

There's a few contenders for this dubious prize, but the nadir was an dreadful home thrashing by Littlehampton Town, in a match we needed to win. But we are only looking forward now.

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

It has to be centre-half Mudiaga Wanogho. A defender who has everything - strength, pace and skill. A tremendous example for the young players at the club and Becks through and through.

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?

The management team have worked tirelessly throughout the summer to strengthen the squad and the result is some really exciting signings. Defender Jack Holland (a legend of our illustrious neighbours Bromley) and midfielder Dominic Morgan-Griffiths have starred at a much higher level, we all know how good playmaker Jamarie Brissett is from his first spell at Eden Park Avenue, and forward Isaac Thompson looks the business. And then of course there's the prolific Louie Theophanous up front. Trying not to get carried away but it's hard!

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

Well our two seasons in the Isthmian League have seen a promotion challenge and a relegation dogfight, so we're probably due some mid-table normality! We'd all be happy to avoid a repeat of last season but there is no reason this team can't finish in the top half, if not push for play-offs.

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

It's Margate isn't it? Probably no prizes for originality there. But away to Eastbourne Town on opening day is a real treat. And of course we'll be looking forward to locking horns again with our old SCEFL pals Deal Town, Erith Town and noisy neighbours AFC Croydon Athletic.

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

Ramsgate and Herne Bay - great grounds and great days out.

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

East Grinstead Town still topped the burger league. Honourable mentions to Sheppey United and Burgess Hill Town.

9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?

Sittingbourne, Herne Bay, Ashford United, Margate, Burgess Hill Town

The survey is now closed- and you’ll see the predicted league tables on Saturday morning, prior to the big kick off!
