Isthmian Supporters Predictions 24-25: Hayes & Yeading United

Corey Eaton is our guide to Hayes & Yeading United

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Corey looks for reasons to be cheerful

  1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

The only notable highlight would be travelling to Poole mid week in February, always a tough ground to visit for a lot of sides - but we seem to do well there. They were on the start of a very bad run and we finally decided to play football and win a few games. It moved us into 14th with a little breathing space.

2. And what was the worst moment?

Losing a must win end of season six pointer down in Devon. Went 1-0 up and thought we were on course to stay up as we really just needed to win that game. We lost 3-1 and had many players pull out of the squad on the day of the game, we had been playing like a side destined for relegation for a while but it still hurt and it was a long way home to London that night!

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

Honestly and brutally; none of them were worthy of it. A few here or there played well in glimpses but nobody was consistent throughout the season, Cole Brown and Ronan Silva being the best two.

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?

We had only signed four players prior to registering my interest for this. Having seen the last three pre-season friendlies; I think we’ve put together a squad which should be hard to break down and ugly to watch. James Richmond signed from Enfield Town. I’m excited to see him play and Perri Iandolo is a massive coup for us. We need someone to dictate the midfield and I really hope he does.

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

I think this is a tough league. It was tough the first time around last time but there are about 7 or 8 sides who will fancy themselves for a push for the title. I think we will just miss out on the play-offs though.

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

The only fixture I looked out for was Guernsey away, how often do you get to fly to watch your non-league team play?

I’m also looking to visit Leatherhead as it’s a new ground for me- and should be an interesting game as two favourites play each other fairly early on.

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

From 2018/19 compared to now, there are 8 new grounds for me to visit. I would like to say Ascot. The set up is really nice.

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

I rarely eat at football grounds these days, I know Uxbridge have a great selection from my memory!

9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?

Farnham Town, Kingstonian, Raynes Park Vale, Leatherhead, Rayners Lane
