Isthmian Supporters Predictions 24-25: Horndean

Jack Norris gives us a Hordean view

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

A change of Division for Jack and his Deans

  1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

For me our 1-0 win at home to Ramsgate was the most memorable game of the season. They were top of the table at the time and were clear favourites, and to beat them I felt was a real sign of the progress we had made. Also winning 4-0 away at Hythe Town was an enjoyable one, perhaps our best performance of the season, Zack Willett got a hattrick, he was unplayable that day.

2. And what was the worst moment?

Losing 4-0 away to East Grinstead. We had already confirmed our safety weeks before but the lads were playing catchup following postponements earlier in the season. It was a painful watch but the lads were running on empty so I couldn't fault them.

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

Tommy Scutt was our most consistent performer, he gave us that quality in midfield and going forward. He won all 3 club player of the season awards and deservedly so. I would also like to mention our goalkeeper Jocko (Cameron Scott), he had his critics and took a lot of stick from opposing supporters but I thought he was tremendous, and made some crucial saves which won us many points.

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?

Chad Field at centre half has been a big player for us in recent seasons, his experience on the field really does show and has a good ability to read the game. Also Dan Sibley, the forward joined last summer and improved from the start, becoming a real threat. I’m excited to see how he progresses this season.

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

Like last season the aim is to stay in the division. We are still new to step 4 football so I’d target hitting the 40 point mark as soon as we can, which is realistically enough to stay up, then push on from there and see how far we can climb.

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Farnham Town looks a very exciting club to be at right now, so I’m looking forward to visiting their ground. They are getting good gates so I’m expecting a good atmosphere for step 4 football. You’ve also got some big clubs who I'm looking forward to visiting - the likes of Hayes & Yeading, Leatherhead and Harrow Borough, they are very well known clubs in non-league so it will be good to see them up against the Deans.

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

Sheppey United for me last season was a highlight, a cracking setup, lovely bar and food as well as friendly people within the club. A very impressive club on the whole.

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

There was a lot of competition but the cheeseburger I had at Erith & Belvedere was the most memorable.

9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?

Leatherhead, Farnham Town, Kingstonian, Hayes & Yeading Utd, Southall

The survey is now closed- and you’ll see the predicted league tables later this morning, prior to the big kick off, with the favourite ground/favourite food results announced on Monday!
