Isthmian Supporters Predictions 24-25: Lewes

Chris Miller with some Lewes views

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Rook Chris with views from the Pan

  1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

We had a decent enough run in the FA CUP beating Hampton convincingly on the way before losing to Aldershot in the fourth qualifying round, and we had an excellent record in the Sussex derbies last year taking 20 points from 24 including beating Horsham and Hastings home and away. Also, the club participating in the Fenix Trophy was a great experience as well- and although we didn't win it, it was nice to play clubs we don't usually meet. Beveren fans were some of the best I've ever seen at the Pan!

2. And what was the worst moment?

Losing 5-0 at Billericay wasn't our finest hour, as well as the 4-1 defeat at relegated Concord where we were very poor. Under Tony Russell we were a top 10 team but never really had the consistency to make the play offs.

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

Arthur Penney put in some great performances at centre back and holding midfield, and deserved his managers and players player of the season awards for his consistency. Kalvin Lumbombo Kalala added attacking flair with some memorable goals so he deserves a mention too.

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?

I'm keeping an open mind as it's a completely new squad with a new manager. Pretty much all our squad from last year moved on but I'm looking forward to seeing Marcus Sablier in a Rooks shirt again- he was on loan from Bromley last season and has signed permanently after his release. We know what a good player he can be.

Danny Bassett has scored goals at this level too including a worldie against us for Carshalton a few years back, so I'm looking forward to him hopefully making a big impact.

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

I hate to sound pessimistic, but I think it might be a bit of a struggle this year with the budget being cut and a new team and manager. Pitts has made some decent signings though, and hopefully the team can gel quickly, and he has come across well so far.  I don't envy his position putting a new squad together, I'd be happy with a mid table finish.

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

Hendon and Cray Wanderers are new grounds I'm looking forward to going to- and the other grounds I haven't been to yet are Chichester and Cray Valley. I also didn't make it to Dover and Dartford during the Conference South days so I'm looking forward  to going to those grounds.

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

I really like Wingate & Finchley with the listed stand, friendly people there as well. Bognor Regis is good as well- it definitely has the best scoreboard!

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

I don't often eat away but I had a good burger at Canvey a few seasons back.

9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?

Chatham Town, Billericay Town, Horsham, Dartford, Hashtag United (my dark-horses)

The survey is now closed- and you’ll see the predicted league tables on Saturday morning, prior to the big kick off!
