Isthmian Supporters Predictions 24-25: Southall
Andrew Matthews is our sage of Southall!
We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.
Andrew gives us his All!
- Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?
Reaching the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round against Hampton & Richmond Borough, the first time for over 20 years, and only losing in the last minute to a wonder strike. Plus, winning at Beaconsfield in the previous round with an injury time wonder strike of our own.
2. And what was the worst moment?
We had such a good season that it can only be the disappointment of losing on penalties in the promotion Play Off Semi-Final at Leatherhead.
3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?
It has to be Biscuit (Jaden Thompson-Brissett). Just for the amount of goals he scored (35 in 47 appearances).
4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?
I think it will be Ryan Hope. He now has plenty of experience and can control a game from midfield. Also, our keeper Michael Edegbe is very solid.
5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?
Not quite as well as last season, but I think we’ll finish in one of the higher mid-table positions. A goal scorer like Biscuit is hard to replace. (Jaden has signed for Hampton & Richmond Borough)
6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?
The 2 away games at the clubs near the south coast mean that I might be able to see my boy, who lives in Hayling Island. Plus, the 2 games against our old rivals from Hayes. No self-respecting Southall fan will buy as much as a cup of tea at the away game, but I dare say Ray Snellings won’t be able to resist a burger!
7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?
Has to be Guernsey – the nearest we get to a European trip! We have a good time over there.
8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?
I’m more interested in the beer!
9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?
This is extremely difficult as we don’t know much about some of the new clubs or much about any changes that have occurred at the other clubs. We’ll have a much better idea about things once we’re about 10 games in, but here goes:
Leatherhead, Kingstonian, Farnham Town, Rayners Lane, Southall
The survey is now closed- and you’ll see the predicted league tables on Saturday morning, prior to the big kick off!
