Isthmian Supporters Predictions: Cheshunt

Fin is our Ambers guide

We asked supporters of our Pitching In Isthmian League clubs to preview the new season, reflect on the old and predict the final outcome. Their predicted 1-22 will be worked into a final table which you will see just before the big kick off.

Finley Chung gives us a Cheshunt lowdown

  1. Thinking about last season, what were your highlights?

There weren’t too many, but the victory over Horsham- and Chevron McClean’s first goal for the club in his two spells- to effectively secure survival will live long in the memory.

2. And what was the worst moment?

Slightly more to choose from here, sadly. Either the home loss to Potters Bar, or a 3-1 home defeat to Canvey Island with about 4 games to go which really felt like a nail in the coffin in terms of our survival bid.

3. Which member of your squad was your Player of the Season - and why?

Nathaniel Orafu, easy. Cleaned up at the clubs season awards and could genuinley go on to play in the Football League. Thankfully he’s signed up for the coming season!

4. Moving on to your current squad- which players do you think will make a big impact during the 24-25 campaign?

Orafu will again have a big impact, Sam Granville partnering him in the middle will be special, and if pre season is anything to go by Kai Brown and new skipper Jack Thomas will be important too.

5. Realistically, how do you think you’ll do this season?

I should imagine we will fare better than last term. We came down with huge pressure on ourselves- but also from opposition fans- to go back up, and it backfired massively.

Over pre season we have a very settled squad which has sometimes eluded us in years gone by. Also, from the new kit sponsor in YouTuber SV2 to the new ‘AMBERS’ on top of stands behind each of the goals, there is a real air of positivity that’s been missing.

6. Which matches are you most looking forward to going to- and why?

A distinct lack of local derbies for us this term, with Potters Bar and Wingate our locals following Enfields promotion. Bognor away will be good, partly due to the 80s weekender at the Butlins about 8 of us are booked on.

7. What is your favourite Isthmian away ground?

Feels like a broken record, but the Dripping Pan is one of my favourite ever venues to watch football. Buzzing to get myself back there this season following not being able to go the last few.

8. If you regularly travelled away, which ground served the best food?

Bognor again wins this one, I can’t remember the name of their mammoth burger, but it ends up on FootyScran on Twitter pretty much every season.

9. Who do you think will finish in the top five?

Dartford, Billericay Town, Dulwich Hamlet, Chatham Town, Horsham

The survey is now closed- and you’ll see the predicted league tables later this morning, prior to the big kick off, with the favourite ground/favourite food results announced on Monday!
