It’s a wintry football Wednesday
Southall and Gorleston are the hosts for South Central and North action this evening
All roads lead to Great Yarmouth and Burnham FC this evening, as we have matches in Pitching In Isthmian North and South Central Divisions.
In the North Division, Grays Athletic will be looking to continue their fine form as they travel to the seaside, Gorleston their hosts. Athletic have conceded fewer goals than any other side in the league- just eight from their first thirteen matches- and on Saturday proved their were no slouches at the other end, either, hitting Heybridge Swifts for four. That was their fifth league win in a row, four of which have come with a clean sheet, and it left them in fifth place, six points behind fourth place landlords and local rivals Tilbury with two games in hand.
Gorleston are down in thirteenth, and have been superb on occasions this season, but not been able to deliver a consistent run of form. The Greens lost against leaders Bury Town on Saturday, and haven’t managed a home win from their previous three matches- their last victory on their own patch a seven goal thrashing of Haringey Borough on October 26th. Last season the two meetings between the sides both ended in two-nil away wins.
Heading to the South Central, and Southall will want to continue their recent good form as they welcome Met Police. The All are looking for a fifth successive win, and indeed have five wins from six; whilst the boys in blue have only one win from ten and are looking to avoid a fourth successive defeat. A win for the hosts will take them up to ninth place, whilst Met start the day in nineteenth, a point from safety, and will climb out of the bottom four with victory.
Met came from behind to defeat The All at Imber Court in September, and also defeated them two-one at the 1878 Stadium in January.
